Whilst studying at university for a BA Marketing Psychology, I had a huge change of heart in regards to my career and realised I could pursue my dream of working with animals.

After graduating in July in 2011, I did volunteer work at the RSPCA in Martlesham to begin preparing myself for a Veterinary Nursing course, which I started in September 2011 at the College of Animal Welfare. I began working at Fromus at the same time and absolutely love my job. I really enjoy working with the team here, caring for the patients and love the often fast paced and unpredictable days i spend here. I hope to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in summer 2013.

I have 2 Jack Russells that I care for, Alfie and Jessie, 2 rescue chickens, Tulip and Daisy, and a rabbit called Archie.

In my spare time I make and sell greetings cards, do tap dancing, play netball and have to find some time to do some work!

George is a cat who has used up a fair few of his nine lives! He was brought into Fromus Veterinary Group after being hit by a car, he had a badly broken foreleg and also a broken jaw. As he was in shock and in a lot of pain he was firts stabilised and given strong pain relief before surgery was done to repair his jaw. Sadly his leg had to be amputated.

Despite this, within hours of coming round from his anaesthetic he was purring and enjoying cuddles and has continued to be a true star to nurse. He is now able to run around at speed and is even climbing up the sofas after his favourite toy! As this was the third (yes, third!) time that George had been hit by a car he was re-homed in rural Herefordshire with not a road in sight!

Stanley is a lively young Terrier Cross who was brought in very ill following a walk in Thetford Forest with his owners, he was suffering with vomiting, nasty diarrhoea and was not himself at all. He was immediately admitted to the hospital as we were very worried about how dehydrated he was and his low body temperature. Within 24 hours of treatment he was back to his usual bouncy (vocal!!) self and we were happy for him to go home!

The Animal Health Trust in Newmarket is conducting a study into this mysterious illness which is affecting some dogs after they’ve been walked in specific forested areas. Anyone who walks their dogs in Sandringham Estate, Thetford Forest, Clumber Park or Sherwood Forest are being urged to fill in a questionnaire-whether there dog has been ill or not.
